Admirals Club - PHL Terminal F

Philadelphia, which served as the primary European gateway for legacy US Airways, is solidifying its role as a major transatlantic hub for American Airlines. Although pre-merger American routed European traffic through JFK, the post-merger strategy clearly utilizes PHL as the carrier's major European gateway. With new routes and new planes (Boeing 787), PHL will certainly play a major role in American's growing international route network.

Travelers originating or transiting through PHL benefit from a choice between 4 Admirals Clubs. Although the airport may have garnered a poor reputation in the past, due to it's Eastern seaboard location with associated weather delays and the relatively constrained aspect of the airport's geography (located along the Delaware), the terminal facilities are modernized and clean. Regardless of the conditions outside the terminal, travelers inside PHL's concourses can comfortably shop, dine, and recharge at a variety of locations.

The Admirals Club in Terminal F is an option for flyers on American Eagle flights connecting in PHL. Accessed by bus service to the other terminals, Terminal F houses only American Eagle flights. The main atrium in F is expansive, with many dining options, open windows, and the Admirals Club on the second floor.

Travelers will appreciate the amenities offered by this Club. Upon check in, the agents were helpful and professional. A large coat and luggage room provide ample storage space. Upon entering the lounge, which is arranged in an "L" configuration, a wide-spanning view of the airfield is visible. Natural light is abundant throughout the Club.

Dining within the Club is fresh, well-appointed, and the food areas kept clean by the attentive staff. A full service bar and additional food for purchase (beyond the complimentary fare) are available. The service in the Club was excellent- all areas were readily cleaned and well-stocked.

The business area of the Club provides a quiet area for productivity. Multiple desktops, a printer, and individual cubicles are available for use. This area is shielded from the outside windows and the activity related to the dining area. It is next to the bar, so unfortunately loud patrons may interrupt work. However, during this visit, no such problem arose.

Overall, the Terminal F Admirals Club is an excellent facility to unwind and prepare for a connecting flight in PHL. It's employees, dining options, and work areas represent the multiple strengths of this lounge.
